THE BUSIEST
COURTHOUSE IN IOWA
Polk County is the most populated county in the State of
Iowa. As a result, the Polk County
Courthouse is the busiest courthouse in the State. In 2007 more than 192 jury trials took place
at the Courthouse. Additionally, more
than 141,000 cases were filed at the Courthouse. These numbers are substantially higher, by a
wide margin, than the other 5 most active courthouses in the State, Scott (Built
1955), Linn (Rededicated 1975), Black Hawk (Built 1964), Story (Built 2004),
and Pottawattamie (Built 1977) Counties.
Each of these counties operate in “modern” structures. See below photographs of those
courthouses.
